More than 900 people have reportedly been killed in an earthquake in Afghanistan


According to foreign media reports, a strong earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale was felt in the Afghan province of Paktika yesterday. The quake has so far killed more than 900 people and injured several others.

According to media reports, local officials said that several houses were reduced to rubble due to the quake while several people were injured in the natural calamity and were rushed to the hospital for immediate medical treatment.

According to reports, the tremors were felt in more than 500 km areas of Afghanistan, as a result of which tremors were also felt in many parts of Pakistan and India, while severe tremors were also felt in the capital Kabul.

The US Geological Survey said the quake had a magnitude of 6.1 and a depth of 51 km.

According to Afghan officials, rescue teams have been dispatched to the quake-hit areas immediately.
