Alan Ruck rains praise on 'Succession' writing - News Line
Renowned actor Alan Ruck recently shared his thoughts on the exceptional writing of HBO's critically-acclaimed drama, Succession, and his portrayal of the complex character, Connor Roy.
In an interview with The New York Times, the 66-year-old expressed his admiration, stating, "Without a doubt, it features the most exceptional writing I have ever come across, week after week." He further added, "However, after embodying the quintessential family troublemaker for what felt like six years, I must admit it would be exciting to explore different roles."
Ruck also delved into his past struggles, revealing his involvement in junior roles purely for financial reasons and to maintain relevance in the industry.
Nevertheless, the veteran actor expressed gratitude for landing the character of Connor Roy in the immensely popular series, referring to it as a "gift." He reflected on the challenging years, stating, "There were numerous periods where I barely scraped by, earning just enough to survive. I spent years yearning for a show like this."
In contrast to Ruck's glowing review, British commentator Piers Morgan criticized Succession following a gripping plot twist. Taking to Twitter, Morgan voiced his dissatisfaction, proclaiming, "Succession lacks appeal without Logan Roy. Reached Episode 7 and struggled to sustain interest. It's like vegan TV... missing the sizzle of juicy meat."
